The Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday will be the latest to hold a hearing on the proposed SBC-AT&T and Verizon-MCI mergers (the committee seems to feel Verizon's already won the contest). However, most of the action this week is in the House Commerce Committee, which has three hearings of interest: (1) A Telecom Subcommittee hearing on the VoIP market Wednesday. (2) An Oversight Subcommittee hearing on OMB and the E-Rate program Wednesday. (3) A Consumer Protection Subcommittee hearing on data protection Tuesday.
