Sun Acquires Storage Tek

Sun Microsystems today acquired Storage Technology for $4.1 billion. Storage Tek is a Colorado-based maker of data storage equipment. The probable reason that I noticed this transaction is its Colorado connection. Nonetheless, the acquisition must mean something interesting about the evolution of the IT sector -- a mainline server and software company buying a data storage company -- but I have no idea what.
